Ageing is the process by which any material degrades with time. This is true for all things living and non-living. The natural process of ageing for most materials takes a very long time. However, scientists / engineers / quality control professionals investigating materials require this to be done in a very short time. The best and proven method to perform this process on rubber that is as close to natural degradation as possible is by using an ageing oven. An ageing oven is very different from a regular lab oven. There are a lot of factors which decide whether the ageing of a material done artificially in a lab is close enough to natural ageing. Some of these factors include:
- Temperature stability over space and time
- Replacing fresh air inside the oven
- Maintaining a very low air velocity inside the oven when replacing air
The conventional lab ovens use a ventilator / fan inside the chamber which completely evaporates additives in the material being aged thereby losing the authenticity of ageing when compared with the natural process. Elastocon is a in Sweden who manufacture Ageing ovens strictly in accordance with standards. The ovens made by Elastocon are fool proofed to ensure that ageing done in your lab is closest possible to the natural process.
Product Specifications
We offer different ageing ovens according to your test requirements. The two major categories of ageing ovens are :- Multi cell ageing oven
- Cabinet ageing oven
- Test Tube Ovens which are used to age rubber samples in test tubes in air (ASTM D865) or oil (ASTM D471 and ISO 1817) medium
