Manufacturing Partner:
Tensile test results depend not only on the machine but also on how well the prepared specimens match the required standards or exceeds them. Even the most cutting edge tensile testing machine will be unable to provide consistent and acceptable results if the specimens are not correctly prepared.
The S+L line of machines for preparing tensile specimen from sheets is highly regarded by premier users around the globe in industries such as Automotive, Steel, Titanium, Aluminium and other metals and alloys.
A brief list of users is given below:
- Automotive Manufacturers: BMW, Daimler, Fiat, Ford, Volkswagen.
- Automotive Component Suppliers: Adient (Johnson Controls) – CRH, Benteler, Bilstein, Brose, Cosma, Faurecia, Gedia, Gestamp, Magna, Mubea, Recaro, TWB.
- Steel Manufacturers: ArcelorMittal, Arania, Interfer Stahl, Salzgitter, Shougang, ThyssenKrupp, VDM, Voestalpine, Wuhan.
- Others: Giebel, KME, Theis, Vogelsang, Walzholz, WISCO, and another 100 companies in Germany, Europe, and worldwide.

Product Specifications
A. Punching PressWe offer what are arguably the most robust and ergonomic hydraulic punching presses and tools for preparing tensile test specimen from metals.
The durable tools are mounted on a C frame press and movement of the tools is actuated using a hydraulic mechanism. The highlights of this system are:- C frame design with possibility to punch samples from uncut sheets which avoids huge labour costs / saves the purchase of impact shears
- C-frames from 30 tons up to amazing 250 tons (unique for this application)
- Single tools, suitable also to receive specimen in 45 degree orientation
- Optional for multiple specimen shape punches on same tool to punch more samples from a single punching operation (“Monster” Press for 16 samples one punch)
- Optional multiple pressing heads on the same press to mount multiple tools (Twin tools (Two), Quattro tools (Four) of same capacity or different capacities based on sheet metal thickness and strength
- Parking tables for storing tools at same height as the punching head
- Rapid and safe tool change mechanism to vastly reduce set up time
- Easy tool handling to ensure very little force is required for moving a tool when exchanging it
- Convenient sample evacuation solutions
- Unique sample identification by bevelled corner
- Two hand operation to ensure safety of the operator
- C-frame: 30 tons (300 kN) up to 250 tons (2,500 kN)
- O-frame: 65 tons (650 kN) to 750 tons (7,500 kN)

B. Grinding Machines – For blanked, laser cut and milled sheet metal specimenPlease note: All standards stipulate that a punching edge damaged during punching must be removed (by milling or grinding). Grinding is preferable as the surface quality is better, the machines can also be operated by semi-skilled labour and the specimen can be ready after 2 minutes.

S+L grinding machines are well designed to not only produce the best quality test specimen (by removing the work hardened / edge damaged zones) but also to be very user friendly and fast. This contour grinding machine for tensile samples is unique in the world (!) and is not produced by any other manufacturer. The PSM 2000-A2 is the latest fully automatic grinding machine from S+L. Now even sensitive materials such as Titanium, Aluminium and thick sheets up to 13 mm can be ground with active cooling.
